Methanol: An important industrial feedstock
Overview
Methanol (CAS 67-56-1), commonly abbreviated as MeOH, is a high-volume solvent and chemical building block used to make derivatives such as formaldehyde, acetic acid, and MTBE. For procurement managers, R&D engineers, and chemical traders, selection centers on purity, water, carbonyls, and logistics. Guangju Yida has a long history with methanol and actively trades and distributes volume in China with a dedicated product-line team, especially in Southern China. General Description
Methanol (methyl alcohol; also known as wood alcohol or carbinol) is the simplest aliphatic alcohol, CH3OH, a polar liquid miscible with water and many organics. Industrially, it is produced by catalytic synthesis from syngas (CO/CO2 and H2) made from natural gas, coal, or biomass, then purified to target grades. Supply options include bulk and packaged deliveries, with grade choice driven by water, aldehydes, and non-volatile residue limits.
